Candles

The candle: for centuries it was the sole source of light for study after the setting of the sun and fittingly has been used as a symbol for knowledge and enlightenment.  Alan Shepard has been attributed with impatiently exclaiming "Let's light this candle!" in reference to the Redstone rocket which, after several delays, would make him the first American in space.  The dual symbolism of the candle, as a light in the darkness and a transport to new worlds, will be the bellwether for this blog.  I intend to use this space primarily to grow my ability to write fiction, mainly in the fantastical and science fiction genre, secondarily to talk about science and engineering topics that I find fascinating, and my tertiary purpose for the blog is to provide a soapbox from which I can expound upon any subject that meets my fancy!  May the Candle guide you to reason in the dark seas of ignorance, and the Rocket take you to new worlds of the imagination!
